Lake Charles gives private-charter travelers two unusually capable airport choices. Lake Charles Regional Airport (KLCH) sits south of the city and combines airline, business-aviation, and general-aviation facilities, while Chennault International Airport (KCWF) lies east of downtown and is built around general aviation, aerospace, MRO, cargo, and military activity. From Air Direct's home base at Cox Field (KPRX) in Paris, Texas, the Lake Charles area is roughly a 45-minute repositioning flight under typical conditions.
KLCH: 6,500 × 150 ft primary runway • Freeman Jet Center
KCWF: 10,702 × 200 ft runway • Million Air Lake Charles
KLCH is approximately five miles south of Lake Charles. Its primary Runway 15/33 measures 6,500 × 150 feet, is concrete and grooved, and the airport offers tower service, ILS/RNAV capability, Jet-A, 100LL, and customs landing rights. Freeman Jet Center is the field's full-service FBO, providing fuel, parking, hangars, and business-aviation support.
KCWF is approximately four miles east of Lake Charles and offers a very different kind of capability: a 10,702 × 200-foot concrete runway, ILS and GPS approaches, contract tower service, 24/7 security and fire protection, customs landing rights, and extensive aerospace infrastructure. Million Air Lake Charles operates the FBO at Chennault, including a massive 64-acre ramp capable of handling aircraft far larger than typical business jets.
For many passenger trips, KLCH is the straightforward choice because of its location and conventional passenger-airport infrastructure. KCWF can be especially attractive when the itinerary involves Chennault Park, aerospace or industrial activity, large ramp requirements, or when its long runway and uncongested general-aviation environment are advantageous. Air Direct can evaluate both airports for the specific trip rather than assuming one field fits every mission.
